Kim Staton

I grew up In Montague, graduating from Montague High School and later Michigan State University as a Civil Engineer. After working in private consulting, I spent 25 years in the telecommunications industry as a project manager in the facilities group. I joined White Lake in 1979 and have enjoyed almost every minute of it.
Bill Davis

Bill has been a WLGC Member since 1981. He was born and raised in Muskegon and graduated from Western Michigan University. Bill served 30 years in the Air Force as a pilot and commander of various logistics organizations. He is now an aircraft maintenance consultant for various defense contractors. He enjoys his old cars in the summer and works hard on his golf game! He and his wife, Kay, reside in the Whitehall area. Bill is on the Grounds Committee and current Secretary.
Michelle Buchanan

Michelle grew up in Iowa and attended the University of Iowa’s School of Dentistry, which is why you see her on the golf course with her black and gold Iowa Hawkeye golf bag. She graduated in 1982 from Dental School, completed a General Practice Residency in Chicago at Rush while her husband completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at Christ Hospital. They moved to North Muskegon in 1985, she joined White Lake Golf Club in 1986 and has been a member ever since. She and her partner own their own practice, Northshore Dental Associates in North Muskegon. Michelle and Gerry have 3 girls who are in various health care fields. She was invited to become a member of the board in 2016 and took over as Membership Chair when Jim McColl retired from the board in the fall of 2017.
Ryan Briegel

Ryan was born and raised in Spring Lake. Ryan is a graduate of Michigan State University and Business Partner and Manager of Pitkin Drug in Whitehall. He and his wife, Dee, have 3 children and reside in Whitehall. Ryan is the Chairman of Shelby Bank and continues to be actively involved in Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, Yacht Club and Covenant Church. Besides golf, Ryan enjoys boating, snow skiing and fishing.
Don Nellis

Don has been an active member of White Lake Golf Club for many years and has served on its Board since 2019. He chairs the Renovation Committee and is also involved with the Greens, Finance, and Golf and Competition committees. Don attended Ferris State University and worked for a Michigan-based design and engineering firm where he specialized in industrial automation. His background includes serving on the Technical Design Committee at Ferris State University, chairing the Laketon Township Planning Commission, and being a member of the Laketon Township Zoning Board of Appeals. Don and his wife Mary are long-time residents of Muskegon County and now make their home in Laketon Township. A passionate golfer, Don is always looking for ways to improve the course for everyone to enjoy.
Frank Wierengo

Frank grew up in Norton Shores and graduated from Mona Shores High School in 1980. He earned a degree in Engineering at Duke University and then an MBA from Northwestern University. Frank married Barbara Valk, also a Mona Shores graduate, in 1986 and together they have two boys Colin, in Virginia and Aaron, in Texas. During his career in manufacturing, Frank and his family moved around the eastern half of the country and lived in Flint, MI, Evanston, IL, Aiken, SC, Danville, IL, Peachtree City, GA and Houston, TX. Frank and his wife Barbara moved into their home in Whitehall for the summers, and joined WLGC, in 2015. They returned permanently to Muskegon County from Houston, TX in 2018 and are enjoying reconnecting with family and old friends in western Michigan, and making new friends in the White Lake area. Frank is an avid golfer and is excited to be a member of the WLGC Board Finance Committee.
George Jackoboice

George has been a WLGC member since 2000 and joined the board in 2023. He was raised in Spring Lake, MI and graduated with an International Relations degree from Denison University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. George is President of Monarch Holdings Inc. George, his wife, Jenny, children (Jack and Elise) live in Belvedere, CA and spend the summer at Sylvan Beach.
Lori Houghton-Rahrig

Lori Houghton-Rahrig grew up in mid-Michigan. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from Grand Valley State University (GVSU) and a PhD in nursing from Michigan State University. Lori worked as a critical care nurse, charge nurse, clinical pathway consultant, and preceptor during her 20 years at St. Mary’s Hospital (now Trinity Health-Grand Rapids) before becoming a college professor at GVSU for 24 years. During her tenure, she served on several committees including the University’s Finance (Faculty, Salary, and Budget) Committee, and the Design Thinking Advisory Board. She also chaired Kirkhof College of Nursing committees such as Faculty Affairs, Awards and Scholarships and held course coordinator positions for the courses she taught.
Lori and her husband, Kevin Rahrig, raised their three children in Grand Rapids. In 2019, they moved to Kevin’s hometown of Muskegon, after building their retirement home. They have seven grandchildren who love spending time there. In 2021, Lori joined WLGC. She has served as the co-chair of the Social Committee within the WLGC Women’s Association since 2022. Together, these work and leadership experiences will guide Lori as she serves on the WLGC Board of Directors as a member of the Finance and Membership Committees.
R. Sidney Shaw

R. Sidney Shaw was born and raised in Ludington Michigan and attended Ludington High School. Upon graduating from LHS in 1973 he joined the United States Coast
Guard and served aboard the USCG Cutter Midgett as a 2 nd Class Petty Officer. The ship was ported out of the San Francisco Bay Area and patrolled the Bering Sea. In
1976 he married Margaret Myers. He received a degree from UC Berkeley with a BS in Conservation Resource Studies and continued his education at California State
University Hayward and received a graduate degree in Public Administration.
In 1990 Sid and Margaret moved back to West Michigan and built a home near Ludington, where his children Jacob and Cecelia were born. Sidney was employed at
Metalworks Inc., as their Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) manager. Sadly, in 2004 his wife Margaret passed away from cancer. He later moved to the Muskegon area and was employed at Sun Chemical Inc. as their EH&S Manager. In 2014 he married Mary O’Connor and now resides in Fruitland Township. He retired from full-time employment in 2016. Sid remains involved with the community and currently serves as the chairperson of the Muskegon Co. Solid Waste Planning Commission. He also controls a donor fund at the Community Foundation for Muskegon Co. (CFFMC) which allots mini grants for organizations building community vegetable gardens for area youth. In addition, he sits on the CFFMC Environmental Grant Committee.
Sid is passionate in his love of golf and has been a Regular member of WLGC for 8 years. This past year he proudly noted that he took the 100 question USGA rules test
and received an Advanced Certificate from the USGA in the rules of golf. Sid currently sits on the WLGC Golf and Competition Committee.
Sidney looks forward to serving on the WLGC board and being an active member of the WLGC community.
PS. He noted his GHIN index currently sits at 11.1, with a goal of lowering it below 10 in 2026 and staying there!
