Membership Categories and Privileges

Note: All age dependent membership categories (Senior, Junior, and Student as well as dependents) are determined as eligible if they reach the specified age within the calendar year of the golf season.

Stockholding (Regular Membership)

The Board of Directors elects regular members either at a scheduled meeting, by facsimile or email transmission. Except by legacy or by the approval of the Board of Directors, a person should be an Associate member before becoming a Regular member.

A Regular member is a stockholding member who may exercise voting rights as a shareholder at the annual meeting or other meetings that may be called by the President from time to time. This membership is the only membership with ownership rights and will share equally in the division of assets remaining after the payment of all debts and liabilities.

A Regular member may make tee times for guests and is not required to accompany them and will be responsible for the actions of these guests while they are on club property. Spouses and unmarried children under the age of 25 have the privileges of Regular membership, except unmarried children under the age of 25 may only invite a maximum of three guests at a time, must accompany them on the course and will be responsible for the actions of these guests while they are on club property.

Honorary Membership

An Honorary member has the full rights of the club as defined by the by-laws and annual dues will be waived.
An Honorary membership may make tee times for a maximum of four guests and is not required to accompany them; however, the Honorary member will be responsible for the actions of these guests while they are on club property.

Associate Family Membership

A person is elected to membership with the approval of a Board member and the Club Professional, one of whom must know the applicant.
An Associate member may make tee times for guests but must accompany them on the course. The Club Professional will monitor this to ensure that a member does not abuse the privilege of having groups play (more than a foursome) and will be responsible for the actions of these guests while they are on club property.

An Associate member may participate in all WLGC events.

Spouses and unmarried children under the age of 25 have the same privileges of membership as the Associate member, except unmarried children under the age of 25 may only invite a maximum of three guests at a time, must accompany them on the course and will be responsible for the actions of these guests while they are on club property.

The Spousal Associate Membership

Upon the death of a Regular member or their spouse the surviving spouse may choose a Spousal Associate membership. The member may participate in all WLGC events, he/she must accompany guests on the course, will be responsible for the actions of these guests while they are club property, and children under the age of 25 are included under this membership.

Senior Associate Membership

A Regular member in good standing who reaches the age of 80 within the calendar year and has been a Regular member for at least 10 years, may apply for a Senior Associate membership.

The Senior Associate membership would include his/her spouse, the right to play in all WLGC events and he/she must accompany guests on the course and will be responsible for the actions of these guests while they are on club property.

Junior, Student, and Seasonal Memberships

Applicants are elected to membership with the approval of a Board member and the Club Professional, one of whom must know the applicant.

Junior Associate Family Membership

Junior memberships are divided into three categories -- under age 30, age 30 - 34 and age 35 – 39. Age limits are based on turning that age during the calendar year of the golf season. Spouses and unmarried children under the age of 25 have the same privileges of membership as the Associate member, except unmarried children under the age of 25 may only invite a maximum of three guests at a time, must accompany them on the course and will be responsible for the actions of these guests while they are on club property.

Student-Individual Membership

Student memberships are available to any person who is a student under the age of 25. These memberships are renewable each year at the discretion of the Board of Directors. These members may make tee times for a maximum of three guests at a time, must accompany them on the course and will be responsible for the actions of these guests while they are club property. The golf professional will verify the student’s golf skill level prior to accepting his/her membership.

Seasonal Membership

This is a limited use membership that allows the member, together with their spouse and unmarried children under the age of 25, to play from the opening of the golf season to June 1st (except for Memorial weekend) and from the Tuesday following Labor Day to the end of the golf season. Upon payment of greens fees, the member can play as a guest of a member during June, July and, August, but no more than six times, excluding official WLGC events to which they are invited. A Seasonal member may invite a maximum of three guests at a time during the limited use period only and must accompany them on the course and will be responsible for the actions of these guests while they are on club property.

General Guidelines for Guests

Any person age 12 or older may be a guest of a member of the WLGC upon payment of appropriate green fees. The golf professional will verify the student’s golf skill level prior to allowing play. If under 18, the child should be accompanied by an adult. Guests are limited to 6 rounds per season excluding official WLGC events to which they are invited.

General Guidelines for Children

Any child/grandchild of a member may play with the approval of the Club Professional. The general rule is that a child should be 8 years old and accompanied by an adult until age 12 unless approved by the club pro. The following are the greens fee rates for member’s grandchildren playing as a guest of their grandparents. Until age 12 grandchildren may play for free; from age 12 through 18, greens fees will be half price and after age 18 full greens fees will apply for grandchildren until age 25. At age 25 playing privileges fall under the overall rules of the club for adults. The Club Professional may modify these general rules for special cases – such as, members of the high school golf team.

General Guidelines for Personnel Policies

The Board has developed and implemented certain Personnel Policies to govern the conduct of employees, staff, Members and guests of Members. Any membership issue raised by a member to a director or the club professional will be referred to the membership committee to resolve. If in the membership committee’s opinion the issue is a serious one or involves policy, the committee will bring the issue to the board’s attention to resolve.
